Velma's Obituary

Velma Hewitt, 83, of Fairplain, passed away September 25, 2007 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, October 1, at 1:00 P.M. at Crystal Springs Cemetery in Benton Harbor. Visitation will be held on Monday prior to the service from 11:30 A.M – 12:30 P.M at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. Velma was born February 5, 1924 in Benton Harbor to Grier and Phyllis (Stolz) Nagle. On June 10, 1943 she married Charles Frederick Manning. Velma was a sincere, kind-hearted woman, who devoted her life to her children and family and will always be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her son, Keith Manning of Fairplain; one granddaughter, Tracy Manning of Coloma and four great-grandchildren; one uncle, Howard Nagle of South Carolina; and one sister, Anita Sublett of Arizona.
