Henry's Obituary
Henry Fege, 90, passed away after a long battle with heart and lung disease, at Caretel Inns of Royalton Township, on Saturday, September 8, 2007. Arrangements have been entrusted with Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, St. Joseph, Michigan. Henry was born September 27, 1916, in Waldersee, Manitoba, Canada, to Frederick and Emma (Buchholtz) Fege. On November 30, 1940, in St. Joseph, MI, he married Martha Bodner. Henry was an employee of the Whirlpool Corp. , where he retired with 42 years of service in 1981. Henry’s interests included youth baseball in St. Joseph, volunteering many years as manager of the Cubs, and later as a member of the board of directors of the St. Joseph Baseball Association. He was very instrumental in promoting youth baseball in St. Joseph. Henry also volunteered many hours to the Boy Scouts and Explorer troops in St. Joseph. Henry also was instrumental in the formation of Whirlpool Credit Union. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during WWII. Henry is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Martha; his three sons, Arnold (Patti Strom) Fege, David (Anne Skjaerlund) Fege, and Marshall Dean (the late Renee Vosburg) Fege; one granddaughter, Broni Fege; one great grandson and his buddy, Ethan Fege; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and seven sisters. He will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 11:00a.m., at Peace Lutheran Church, with Rev. Kurt Hendel officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph, MI. Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 5:00-8:00p.m., at the Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, St. Joseph, MI.
