Vera's Obituary
Vera S. Pollack, of St. Joseph, passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2007, at Lakeland Continuing Care in St. Joseph.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at First United Methodist Church, 3003 Leco Ct., St. Joseph with Rev. Wade Panse officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church of St. Joseph or Berrien County Cancer Service. Vera was born on September 24, 1921 to John and Irene (Zuschik) Samchuk in Indiana Harbor, IN. On April 11, 1942 she married Gus Pollack in Bridgman, MI. Together they had three children, Dennis, Shirley, and Randy. She enjoyed staying at home with her children and providing for her family. Vera was an active member of First United Methodist Church of St. Joseph.
Vera is survived by her three children, Dennis (Aletha) Pollack of Battle Creek, MI, Shirley (Dennis) Churchill of Watervliet, and Randy (Gloria) Pollack of St. Joseph; seven grandchildren, Jason Churchill, David Pollack, Heather Thompson, Shawn Pollack, Marc Pollack, Mark Closson and Ben Closson; two great-grandchildren, Nevin Pollack and Joshua Pollack; and one sister, Ann Alleman of Arkansas.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gus in 1995; three sisters, Pauline Ott, Mary Schkroba, and Julia Pastryk; and one brother, Nicholas Samchuk.
