Lori's Obituary

Lori Jean Cook, 46, of Terre Haute, IN, formerly of St. Joseph, MI, died at her home on Tuesday, July 17, 2007, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00A.M., Tuesday, July 24, 2007, at St. John Catholic Church, 600 Columbus, Benton Harbor, with Father William Jacobs, Jr. officiating. Visitation is from 6:00 – 8:00P.M., Monday, at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Lori’s name to Vista Care in Terre Haute, IN and the Ovarian Research Foundation. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guestbook online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Lori was born November 1, 1960 in St. Joseph, to Dick and Barbara (Watts) Lucker. Lori was a 1978 graduate of St. Joseph High School, attended Depauw University in Greencastle, IN and graduated from Bethel College, Mishawaka, IN. She married Dana Cook on July 14, 1979, in Benton Harbor, MI. He preceded her in death. Lori worked at Bendix/Bosch before moving to Terre Haute, where she was Manager of Human Resources at Great Dane Manufacturing. Lori was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance, Gilda Radner Foundation, and the Society for Human Resource Management. Lori loved gardening, Bingo, the “BOAT”, cruises, and most of all, the time she spent with her granddaughter Larissa. Lori leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Jennifer Cook of Terre Haute; son Joshua Cook of Terre Haute; granddaughter Larissa Cook; mother and step-father Barbara and Louis Konopka, of Eau Claire, MI; sister Sue (Rob) Mazigian of Berrien Springs; brother Michael (Lynn) Lucker of Stevensville; sister-in-law Deena (George) Eddy of St. Joseph; parents-in-law Derrick and Milodean Cook of Benton Harbor; step-brother Lou Konopka of Poulsa, WA; step-sister Debra Konopka of Dowagiac; cousins Mark (Linda) and Steven (Julie) Schlutt; best friends Shirley Wise and Carol Carpenter; nephews and nieces Bobby, Zach & Carly Mazigian, Kaitlyn & Adam Lucker, and Dirk, Danielle & Geordan Eddy; and friend Nancy Janulis, who was dedicated in managing and updating Lori’s “carepage” website. Lori was preceded in death by her father in 1970, her husband Dana; maternal grandparents Richard and Helen Ann Watts; paternal grandparents Bud and Margaret Lucker; and an aunt Patricia Schlutt. Lori touched so many lives with her love and inspiration, not only with her family, friends and co-workers but by her online “Hystersister” support group, and she will be remembered for her compassion, kindness and determination. She will be forever missed.
