Betty Jewel Brewer

Betty Jewel Brewer, age 59, of Coloma, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 5, 2007, at the University of Chicago Hospital in Illinois after a short illness. Born June 2, 1948 in Mobile, Alabama to Cecil and Gladys (Watson) Whorton, Betty lived all of her life in Southwestern Michigan. She married the love of her life of 31 years, Marion Brewer on March 13, 1976 in Sister Lakes, Michigan. Betty was a loving wife, mother, sister & aunt who dedicated her whole life to her family. She was also a caring, gentle & giving person. Betty was an avid NASCAR fan, loved watching birds and wild life, collecting clowns and crystals, and playing with her dogs Buddy and Holly. Surviving are her husband, Marion Duane Brewer; daughters, Lisa (Paul) Watkins of Deland, FL, and Kristy (Adam) Walker of St. Joseph, MI; sons, David Sherburn and Duane A. Brewer of Coloma, MI; brother, Charles (Earlene) Whorton of Eau Claire, MI; sister, Betty (Joe) House of Douglasville, GA; three grandchildren, Ryan, Marissa, and Shane. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews, including Shannon, Kristina, and Dan Whorton, and many friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Bently Smith, and Irene Baldy. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:30 P.M. Monday, July 9, 2007 at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Her final resting place will be at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma, Michigan. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Sunday afternoon between 2:00 & 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
