Robert Hamilton Wiley

Robert “Bob” Hamilton Wiley, Jr., 83, of St. Joseph, formerly of Benton Harbor, passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2007, at The Willows in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 11:00 A.M., on Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at Church of Christ, 1495 E. Empire, Benton Harbor with Rusty Stark officiating. Bob was born to Robert and Mary “Shorty” (Copus) Wiley, on January 4, 1924 in Marlin, TX. Bob served in the U.S. Marine Corp. during WWII as an electronics technician. He graduated from American Television Institute of Technology in Chicago, IL with a B.S. majoring in television engineering. He married Dorothy Ruske on February 22, 1947 in Chicago, IL. Bob owned and operated his own business, Bob Wiley TV Repair, in Benton Harbor since 1960. After he retired he worked part time for his son, Richard. Bob was an Eagle Scout and a Cub and Boy Scout leader for several years. He was the chairman of the board of Troop # 4 in Benton Harbor. He was president of the Sorter School Board. Bob especially enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. His many hobbies included fishing, hunting, camping and golfing. His passing will have a huge impact on the many people who have been a part of his life. Bob is survived by his wife, Dorothy of 60 years; children, Dallas (Diana) Wiley of Albuquerque, NM, Lynda (Paul) Lee of Buchanan, Richard (Sandra Jean) Wiley of Berrien Springs, Susan (Rick) Layer of Hartford, and Sandy (Garry) Sempert of Eau Claire; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-children; one brother; and two sisters. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and two sisters.
