Elsa C. Nordberg

Elsa C. Nordberg, 97, of St. Joseph, passed away, Sunday, October 21, 2007 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center-St. Joseph. Private Family Services will be held at Riverview Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Maud Preston Palenske Memorial Library or to the American Cancer Society. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Mrs. Nordberg was born July 24, 1910 in Chicago to Per Gustave & Erika (Kjellstrand) Lindholm. On August 17, 1941, she married Alfred H. Nordberg in St. Joseph. Elsa was employed for many years at Baker-Vawter which became Remington Rand Corp. in Benton Harbor, and retired from St. Joseph Savings & Loan. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading. Mrs. Nordberg is survived by her two sons-Stephen (Patricia) Nordberg of St. Joseph, John (Patricia) Nordberg of Denver, NC; four grandchildren-Mark (Alysia) Nordberg, Laura (Brett) Black, Christopher Nordberg, Michael Nordberg; five great-grandchildren-Owen, Maya, & Lucy Nordberg, Taylor & Connor Black, and her sister Eleanor Coder of St. Joseph. She was preceded by her parents, her husband Alfred Nordberg on March 18, 1989, by her brother Elmer “Bud” Lindholm, and by her sister Sylvia Smith.
