Arnold's Obituary

Arnold Carl Nimtz, 77, of Berrien Springs, passed away on Friday, August 3, 2007 at Orchard Grove in Benton Harbor. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph, with Pastor Gerald Schroer officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Visitation will be on Tuesday at the funeral home one hour prior to service. Arnold was born on October 27, 1929, in Benton Harbor, MI to John and Olga Nimtz. During Arnold’s early childhood his father passed away and his mother later remarried Stanley Newman, who loved Arnold as his own child. Arnold later married June Luttke in 1952 and together they raised a loving family of three boys. He loved to bowl, play golf and bingo, and especially enjoyed playing cards at the Berrien Springs Senior Center. Arnold was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stevensville. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and cherished him. Arnold is survived by his three sons, John Nimtz of Berrien Springs, Joe (Mary Ann) Nimtz and Gary (Kathy) Nimtz all of Indiana; Seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Arnold was preceded in death by his father, his mother and step-father, two brothers and his wife of 48 years, June.
