Santa's Obituary

Santa “Sandy” Lucille Heyn, 83, of St. Joseph passed away on Monday. July 16, 2007, at Lakeland Regional Health Center in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, July 19, 2007, at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Msgr. Michael A. Osborn officiating. Burial will follow in North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 P.M., Wednesday, July 18, at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice at Home of St. Joseph. Friends may send the family a condolence message or sign the guest book on-line at www.starks-menchinger.com. Sandy was born to Charles and Rose (Bavido) Nuccio on October 22, 1923 in Benton Harbor. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1941. She married Charles Heyn, Jr., on April 14, 1945 and they had three children. Sandy worked for Berrien County Juvenile Court for 21 years as a juvenile register/court clerk for Judge Dick and Judge Burkholz and developed many lasting friendships during her career. She was a devoted wife and mother, who loved her family and was deeply loved in return. She will be greatly missed. Sandy is survived by her children, William (Brenda) Heyn of Stevensville, Rosanne (Danny) Riley of Gardiner, Montana, and Debbie (Bill) Thomas of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Holly (Jude) Hentz of Stevensville, Tony (Karla) Heyn of Stevensville, and Dana (Richelle) Riley of Gardiner, Montana; great-granddaughter, Hailey Hentz of Stevensville; sisters, Josephine Marino of Crown Point, Indiana and Marianne Ives of St. Joseph; brother, Phillip (Connie) Nuccio of Brighton, MI; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband on April 15, 1996, after 51 years of marriage.
