Gwendolyn Ruth Bolline

Gwendolyn Ruth Bolline, 97 of Topeka, KS, formerly of St. Joseph, MI, passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2007. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 555 Delaware in Benton Harbor with Fr. William J. Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow in Ft. Custer Cemetery at 2:30 P.M. Friends may call Monday from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. with the rosary recited at 6:30 P.M. at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Gwendolyn was born one of nine children on April 16, 1910 in Mapleton, Minnesota to William & Sarah Rose Sherratt. She graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Nursing with a degree as a Registered Nurse in the early 1930’s. Her primary interest in nursing was working in obstetrics. On April 21, 1933, she married her love, Morrie A. Bolline in St. Paul, Minnesota. He preceded her in death on November 16, 2002 after 69 1/2 years of marriage. Gwendolyn was a long time resident of the St. Joseph area, nearly 30 years, until June of 2006 when she moved to Kansas to be closer to her son and daughter in law. She was a gourmet cook and enjoyed every aspect of food and eating, and it was her favorite topic, and she deeply loved playing bridge and did so frequently with many of her friends. She was a proud member of Caln Rose and enjoyed the skirl of bagpipes. She also enjoyed the roar of Harley Davidson motorcycles. Gwendolyn will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Mrs. Bolline is survived by her daughter, Rosemary Rice of Reno, Nevada; her son, Michael (Helene) Bolline; One grandson, Thad (Tammy) Bolline; One great-granddaughter, Hailey Marie Bollini and one great-grandson, Cooper Michael Bollini.
