Gustav James “Gus” Biastock, 42, of Fairplain, passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2007, at his home, 1898 W. Ogden Circle in Benton Harbor. Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home is serving the family. A Memorial Mass celebrating Gus’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 8, 2007, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 555 Delaware in Benton Harbor, with Father Bill Jacobs officiating. Burial will be private. A memorial celebration will be held at the Moose Lodge on Union Avenue at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials or contributions may be made to either the family or to St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. Gus was born the second son of nine children to Robert and Lucy Biastock on February 27, 1965, in Benton Harbor. Gus graduated from Lakeshore High School. He was a mechanic and a member of the Moose Lodge. Gus was an avid NASCAR fan and was particularly fond of his hero, #20 Tony Stewart. Gus loved cars, music, concerts, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. He was loved very much -“he was a tender, sensitive soul.” Gus had a wonderful sense of humor. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend who will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. Gus is survived by his mother, Lucy Ruth Biastock; brother, Robert; sisters (brothers-in-law) Deborra Mc Clanahan (Dave), Marian Denton- Rosko(Mike-Jeff), Susan (Chris) Barkley, Patricia (Patrick) Clark, Dorothy (Howard) Yeager, Cynthia Biastock, and Angela (Scott) Baiers; 19 nieces and nephews; 7 great-nieces and nephews; Uncle Bert (Linda) Ghidotti; and by his “second family” of very dear, life-long friends, Gordy, Mikey, Kim, Jeff, and John and by Mr. & Mrs. Walsh. Gussie was preceded in death by his father, Robert Louis Biastock, Sr.; his maternal grandparents, Bert and Marian Ghidotti and Louis and Florence (Hauser) Biastock; and by his uncle, Joseph Ghidotti, Sr.
