Marilyn's Obituary
Marilyn “Sis” Elizabeth Walker, 76, of Stevensville, passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at Jordan’s Nursing home in Bridgman. A Celebration of life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 18, 2007 at Fairplain Presbyterian Church, 210 W. Napier Avenue, Benton Harbor, with the Rev. Dr. John Munson officiating. Friends may visit with the family one-hour prior to the service at the church. Burial of ashes will take place at a later date in Lincoln Township Cemetery in Stevensville. Memorial donations may be made to the Nature Conservatory. Friends may send the family a condolence message or sign the guest book on-line at www. starks-menchinger.com. Marilyn was born to John and Edith (Lindquist) Walker II on August 30, 1930 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. In her youth she spent summers with her parents at her grandfather’s cottage on Waverland Beach, located near Grand Mere. Marilyn’s grandfather founded Waverland Beach in the early 1900’s. She worked in New York for a period of time and then moved to Michigan, to live full time on Waverland Beach, when her mother retired in the 1960’s. During her time in Michigan Marilyn was a member of the Fairplain Presbyterian Church and a member of the Bridgman Women’s Club. She loved the lake, the beach, the dunes, and the local wildlife. Marilyn also enjoyed Broadway plays, and was an avid sports fan. Marilyn is survived by her nieces, Judy L.Walker of Stevensville, Marilyn E.Walker of Maryland, Constance F.Walker of Maryland and nephews, John C. Walker IV of Colorado, Fred C.Walker of Indiana, and William D.Walker of Michigan. She is also survived by sister-in laws, Mary (Dufford) Walker of Indiana and Jane (Ford) Agricola of Maryland and many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, John C. F.Walker III, and William F.Walker. Marilyn was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend and will be dearly missed by all.
