Peter's Obituary

BENTON HARBOR – Peter Patrick Genovese II, 44, of Benton Harbor, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 24, 2007, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at St. John’s Catholic Church in Benton Harbor with Fr. Bill Jacobs, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Benton Harbor. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Memorial donations may be made to Special Olympics, We Can Ride 4-H Club, or S.S. John & Bernard Parish. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home in St. Joseph. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.starks-menchinger.com. Pete was born on October 14, 1962, in Benton Harbor, to Peter Patrick Genovese and Josephyne “Toni” Sineni. He attended Lake Michigan Catholic Schools until he moved to Jacksonville, FL. He graduated from Jacksonville College after which he earned an electrical apprenticeship. He became a licensed electrician in 1989 and worked with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Pete loved fishing with his wife, Rose, cooking for his family, fishing with his buddies, planting tomatoes, and just plain fishing. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his friends. He never met anyone he wouldn’t help. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. May the infinite mercy of God forever hold him. He is survived by his wife, Rose Genovese; his mother, Toni (Al) Ferguson; his father, Peter Patrick (Joyce) Genovese; his children, Raymond Dolph, Jasen Dolph, who held a special place in Pete’s heart, Brandon Dolph, and Jennifer Dolph; his granddaughter, Elixus Dolph; his brothers and sisters, Paul (Mary) Genovese, Teri (Craig) Shafer, Rick Jannings, Anthony Genovese, and Debra Genovese; his stepsisters, Laura, Linda, and Lisa; his grandfather, Paul Sineni; and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his nana, Jo Sineni; his grandparents, Frank and Agnes Genovese; an aunt, Mary Hoffman; and his uncles, John, Frank, and Bill Genovese.
