Sarah “Jeanette” Cohen, 85, of Benton Harbor, passed away Wednesday morning, May 9, 2007, at Lakeland Specialty Care Hospital in Berrien Center, following an extended illness. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be Saturday, May 12, at 2:00 P.M., at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph, with Beth A. Reum officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation with the family will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 Saturday at the funeral home. Jeanette was born November 16, 1921 in New Castle, IN. She was the daughter of Chester and Ruth Gold. She worked for Voice of Music and Clark equipment. After retiring she and her late husband Maurice enjoyed their vegetable garden fruit stand. They loved to travel and went to Florida each winter. Survivors include her daughter Sandra (Rich) Hauch of Stevensville; grandson, Tim Glavach (Susan Matthews); great-grandsons, Steven and Connor Glavach; sisters; Martha Zindler of Kansas City, Mildred Adams of St. Joseph, Betty Canvin of Kalamazoo; step-son, Michael (Linda) Cohen of Mishawaka, IN; step-daughters, Judith Lieberman and Rochelle (Robert) Mahler; special niece, Charlene Zindler of St. Joseph; and by other nieces and nephews. She always looked forward going to her luncheon every month with her school friends, The Thirty Niners, at Babes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Cohen on March 9, 2005; and by her mother, father, and her sister.
