Betty's Obituary
SILVER CREEK TWP. – Betty Jean Spencer, 82, of Silver Creek Township, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 16, 2007, at The Willows in St. Joseph.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice at Home or Silver Creek Methodist Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home in St. Joseph.
Betty was born on May 20, 1924, in Benton Harbor, to William and Lillie May (Taylor) Pullins. Betty was a graduate of Western Michigan County Normal and taught elementary school for several years. On February 18, 1950, she married Winston Spencer. She and Winston own a farm in Silver Creek Township. They have many close friends and neighbors. Betty, a member of the Silver Creek Methodist Church, was known for her pies, farming, gardening, hand crafts, and canned goods. She will be missed by many.
Survivors include her husband Winston Spencer; her children, Lee Spencer and Phillip (Kathy) Spencer; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her sister, Mildred Stahl; and her sister in-law, Elsie Pullins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Leonard Pullins and William Pullins; her brother in-law, Fred Stahl; and her sister in-law, Sally Pullins.
