Jewell's Obituary
Jewell M. Pollard, 83, of Benton Harbor went to be with the Lord on May 4, 2007. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, May 7, 2007, at Apostolic Tabernacle, 1881 Greenley Avenue, Benton Harbor with the Rev. Billy Long officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2007 at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St.Joseph from 4 – 6:00 P.M and also on Monday, May 7, 2007 one hour prior to Service time at the church. Burial will follow in North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Memorials may be made to the Pentecostal Apostolic Church building fund. Jewell was born August 17, 1923 to Charles and Pearl (Geary) Buckley in Steel, Missouri. Following the untimely death of her father, her mother later remarried William Sims .On August 8, 1942 Jewell married Lloyd Pollard, whom predeceased her in 1994. Jewell grew up in a large loving family and on in life accepted her call into the ministry of the Lord. She was an ordained minister with Associated Brotherhood of Christians. Jewell was held in very high regards with her church family, as she and her husband had ministered and held pastoral positions in Berrien County for many years. She enjoyed writing poems and short stories based upon peaceful living, Christianity, and self-esteem. Jewell will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Jewell is survived by her son, Stephen Pollard of St. Joseph; two grandchildren, Sarah Pollard and Katherine Pollard; Three brothers, Fred Sims and Donald Sims of Donaphan MO; William Sims, Jr. of Bunceton MO; Two sisters, Alphia Dunn of Tennessee and Livone Sims of Kansas City. Jewell was predeceased by her father, mother and stepfather; her husband; one daughter in 1946; her brother, James Buckley; her three sisters, Delta Jones, Louise Albright, and Wanda Walker.
