Norma's Obituary
Norma Humphrey, 95, of St. Joseph, went to meet her Lord & Savior on Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at The Willows where she had resided.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday at the First Church of God, 2627 Niles Ave., St. Joseph with Rev. Robert Confer officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may call from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M. Sunday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Mrs. Humphrey was born December 24, 1911 in Keeler, Michigan to William & Augusta (Lutz) Rhode. On May 2, 1931, she married Lisle Sikes in Benton Harbor. He preceded her in death in 1968. Norma was employed at Whirlpool Corporation as a timekeeper until her retirement. In 1981, she married Rev. Frank Humphrey in St. Joseph. He preceded her in death in 1995. Norma was a member of the First Church of God in St. Joseph where she had served as a financial secretary, and had volunteered in the office. She was a member of the WCG, of which she had served as treasurer. In her spare time, Norma enjoyed knitting, crocheting, embroidery, and flower gardening.
Norma is survived by her daughter Jeanette Schroeder of St. Joseph; two granddaughters-Nancy Schaper of Stevensville; Sharon (Haradon Jay) Rice of Palm Harbor, FL; seven great-grandchildren-Erik, Sarah, & Stephanie Schaper, Julie, Jacqui, Joshua, & Joseph Rice; and three nephews-Roger Menchinger, Jim (Donna) Menchinger, and Louis (Betty) Lachman. She was, in addition to her husbands, preceded in death by her father William Rhode, her mother & step-father Augusta & William Schmidt, two sisters-Ruth Menchinger, & Anna Grams, her son-in-law-Allen Schroeder, and a niece Irene Menchinger.
