Doris's Obituary

ST. JOSEPH – Doris E. (Eckles) Miller, 91, of St. Joseph, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2007, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. A service celebrating her life will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 2, at Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Joseph with Pastor Tom Batsky officiating. Cremation will follow the service with a burial of ashes to take place at a later date in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home in St. Joseph. Memorial donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church. Doris was born on November 30, 1915, in St. Joseph, to Bruno and Grace (Fisher) Humberg. Over the years, she owned and operated numerous local establishments including the Pine Pub, Depot Bar, Shoreham Restaurant, Green Cottage, and Sand Rabbit Motel and Restaurant. In her spare time, she enjoyed bowling, golfing, and volunteering at Lakeland Medical Center where she served as a foster grandparent for 17 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Survivors include her son, Jeff Miller of St. Joseph; a brother, Robert Humberg of St. Joseph; her special friends, Joyce Wood, Cindy Parkinson, and Ruth Stanton; and two cousins, Jean Koebel and Bernadine Johan. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Charles Miller.
