Jay's Obituary
Jay Thomas Brenner, age 16, was called to his eternal home in heaven on Wednesday, April 18, 2007, from his home in Eau Claire, Michigan. Jay was born on April 27, 1990 in Berrien Center, Michigan. Jay was baptized into his faith on May 27, 1990 and confirmed on May 9, 2004. He was a member of St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Benton Harbor, Michigan, and attended elementary school at St. Matthew’s from kindergarten through eighth grade. Jay attended high school at Michigan Lutheran High School in St. Joseph, Michigan, where he was a Junior.
Jay was very athletic, starting with baseball at age five and continuing every year after. He also enjoyed basketball, soccer, golf, and paintball. Jay was a member of the choir and Young People’s group at St. Matthew’s. He was a member of the chorus, band and Festival Singers at Michigan Lutheran.
Jay enjoyed camping and canoeing and going on vacations with his family. He also liked to read and play chess, listen to music, and most of all play video games with his friends.
The family will receive friends from 4-8pm on Friday, April 20 at Starks and Menchinger Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road in St. Joseph, Michigan. Additional viewing will be from 10-11am Saturday at Michigan Lutheran before the service. A celebration of life service will be held at Michigan Lutheran High School, 615 E. Marquette Woods Road, St. Joseph, Michigan on Saturday, April 21 at 11am. Jay will be laid to rest at Union Cemetery, Berrien Center.

Jay is survived by his parents Michael and Amy(Stubelt) Brenner, two sisters: Stefanie Brenner of Eau Claire and Dawn Cook of Berrien Springs, four nieces Ashtin, Kaitlyn, Shaye, and Delaney of Berrien Springs, Grandparents Alfred and Thelma Stubelt of Benton Harbor, Ruth Brenner of Benton Harbor and lots of cousins, aunts and uncles.
