Deane C. Coffey, 83, of Stevensville passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2007, at Lakeland Specialty Hospital, Berrien Center.
Friends may call from 9:00-10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 17, 2007 at Kerley – Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, at the funeral home with Rev. Paul A. Koehneke officiating. Burial will follow at Lincoln Township cemetery, with military rites conducted. Memorials may be made to Peace Lutheran Church or to the charity of your choice. Deane was born on March 27, 1922, in Black Rock, AR. to Nathon & Edna (Judkins) Coffey, Jr. On December 21, 1942, he entered United States Army and was honorably discharged on December 24, 1945. He retired from Paramount Die Casting as a tool and die maker in 1984.
Survivors include a son – Larry (Karen) Coffey of Stevensville, MI; daughter – Connie (Denny) Fortier of New Buffalo, MI; twin brother- Don Coffey of Lake Wales, FL; 6 grandchildren – Rod (Lynda) Coffey of Baroda, MI; Rhonda Krumrie of Galien, MI; Kelly (Matt) Kelly of Branson, MO; Debby (Dan) Shrake of Beverly Hills, MI; Lisa (Todd) Ponton of Stevensville, MI; April Coffey (Tom Argenzio) of New Carlisle, IN; 3 great-granddaughter’s- Liza Kelly, Ali Kelly of Branson, MO, and Haley Lemons of New Carlisle, IN; 5 great-grandson’s Rod Coffey, Jr. of Baroda, MI; Tyler Krumrie of Galien, MI; J.T. Ponton, Joshua Ponton, and Luke Ponton of Stevensville, MI; two great-step-grandson’s – Chris & Michael Fryback of Baroda, MI; and a great-great step-grandchild.
Preceding him in passing, on July 24, 1995, was his wife, Mary Jane Coffey; great-granddaughter Savannah “Annie” Gail Kelly on July 9, 2002; his sister Connie Ezell; and brother Nate Coffey
