Alvin's Obituary

Alvin “Al” M. Beezley, 73, of St. Joseph, passed way peacefully on Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at his home. A Celebration of Life Service will be celebrated at 10 A.M., Saturday, March 17, at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4333 Cleveland Avenue, in Stevensville, with Rev. Phillip Quardokus officiating. Burial will follow with military rites conducted. Friends may visit with the family Friday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to either Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Al was born on May 22, 1933, in Watervliet to Arnold and Althea Beezley. He proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. On November 1, 1953, he married Doris Bryant in St. Joseph. Together they had five children. Al was a longtime member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church and sang in the church choir. His musical talents also included playing the organ, harmonica, guitar, and the accordion. Al had many friends who knew him for his great sense of humor, his love of life, and for the fact that “he could be counted on for anything.” Al enjoyed playing golf, camping, and had painted quilts for all of his grandchildren. Most of all, Al cherished time spent with his beloved family and particularly with his ten grandchildren. Al is survived by is wife Doris of 53 years; by his children, Daniel (Lynn) Beezley of Coconut Creek, FL, Sharon (Dan) Reed of Sodus, Karen (Scott) Dine of Stevensville, Nancy (Jeffrey) Von Koenig of Eau Claire, and Douglas Beezley of Pompano Beach, FL; by his grandchildren, Joshua (Amber) Beezley, Justin Beezley, Maggie and Cate Reed, Laurel and Seth Dine, Sandra and Nicholas Von Koenig, and Nicole and Gabrielle Beezley; his brother, Donald (Pat) Beezley of Somonauk, IL, Warren (Pat) Beezley of Coloma, Johanna (Don) Poziwilko of Sodus; sister-in-law, Frieda Beezley; and by numerous relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his sisters, Pricilla Reinhardt and Betty Jean Beezley; and by his brother, Tom Beezley.
