Max's Obituary
Max Kebschull, 73, of Benton Harbor, passed away Saturday morning, January 6, 2007, in his home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 10, 2007, at Kerley-Starks and Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph, with Rev. Randy Duncan officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 and again Wednesday from noon until 2:00 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made either to the Elks Lodge, BPOE 541 or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Those wishing to send the family a message of condolence may do so online at www.starks-menchinger.com. Max was born on August 19, 1933, in St. Joseph. He was one of five children born to William and Auguste Kebschull. Max was an officer with the St. Joseph Police Department and retired after 32 years. Later he worked as a bailiff for 17 years at the Berrien County Courts. A lifelong resident of the area, Max loved the St. Joseph community that he served for so many years. “Max never met a stranger. To know him was to love him.” He was a life member of the Elks Lodge, BPOE 541. Max loved “golf, golfing, and golf trips!” Max is survived by his wife Audrey; his sons, Max (Ann) Kebschull of Decatur and Joe Kebschull of South Bend, and Dale Newman of St. Joseph; his grandchildren, Cassandra and Micah Kebschull; 12 other grandchildren; his great-granddaughter, Elaine; 1.7 other great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and by his two brothers, Herb (Fran) Kebschull of Key West, FL and William Kebschull of El Paso, TX. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Anne Ignatovich and Shirley Kebschull.
