Ida M. Davis

Ida Martha (Gallert) Davis, 70, of Stevensville, was called to her heavenly home on December 7, 2006. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Rev. Jonathan Kruschel officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home. Ida Gallert was born August 4, 1936 in Coloma to Edward & Pauline Gallert. She married James Arthur Davis on September 1, 1956 in Benton Harbor at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, where they were members. Ida enjoyed living a full and loving life with family and friends. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stevensville and the Stevensville American Legion Post #568. She retired from the Benton Harbor Library after 12 years of employment. When in her prime, she was an avid bowler. Ida is survived by her husband of 50 years, James A. Davis, children Kent Davis of Stevensville, Kris (Mikki) Davis of Stevensville and Jay (Patricia) Davis of Bridgman; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son James A. Davis, Jr., her brother Lee Gallert, sister-in-law Joanne Gallert, brother-in-law-Bob Davis, and her mother-in-law Edith Leight.
