Sharon K. Sandel

Sharon K. Sandel, 71, of St. Joseph, passed away, Saturday, January 27, 2007 at her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 555 E. Delaware in Benton Harbor with Fr. William J. Jacobs, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Benton Harbor. Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. Monday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Liturgical Prayers recited at 7:30 P.M. Memorials may be made to Hospice at Home. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Mrs. Sandel was born March 19, 1935 in Benton Harbor to Duane R. & Frances E. (Sweeney) Smith. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1953. On February 26, 1955, she married Thomas P. Sandel in Benton Harbor. Together they loved traveling the US and abroad, and Polka Dancing. Sharon was a member of St. John-St. Bernard Parish. She volunteered for more than 30 years for the Red Cross, and was active in the Senior Bowling League at Blossom Lanes where she formerly served as president, treasurer, and secretary. Mrs. Sandel is survived by her husband Thomas; her son Kevin (Carolyn) Sandel of Dorr, MI; two daughtes-Antoinette “Toni” (David) Stoffle of Alpharetta, GA, Lorraine “Lori”(David) Wagner of Edwardsburg, MI; five grandchildren-Alan & Christine Wagner, Alexandra, Madeleine, & Olivia Stoffle; and two sisters-Sheila Rutledge & Dara (Bill) Schulz both of Benton Harbor
