Linda J. Rush

Linda June (Schaus) Rush, 62, of Stevensville, passed away Friday morning, December 1, 2006, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph, MI. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday December 4, at Kerley & Starks-Menchinger Family Funeral Home, St. Joseph, MI, with Rev. Gordon Barry officiating. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday, December 3, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. A private family burial will take place, after cremation, at North Shore Memory Gardens in Hagar Shores, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to the Stevensville United Methodist Church, in her name. Linda was born October 6, 1944, in Benton Harbor, to Nelson and Anna (Rein) Schaus. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1962. On June 16, 1962, she married Ronald D. Rush, in St. Joseph. She was a waitress working at St. Joseph Holiday Inn in the 70’s, Mickey’s Place in the 80’s, and Stevensville Station in the 90’s. She retired in 2002 after 32 years of service. She had a love for people and always had a smile on her face. She was an avid pool player and is a former member of the American Pool Association. Survivors include her children, Dawn (Steve) LaPlante of Stevensville, Michael (Amanda) Rush of St. Joseph, and Lori Rush of Stevensville; nine grandchildren, Jennifer Newman, Timothy Getz, Jr., Cori Cooper, Michael Cooper, Natalie Rush, Ryan Rush, Tonia LaPlante, Terri LaPlante, and Amy Cooper Smith; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Judy Duke of Benton Harbor; two brothers-in-law, Frank (Margaret) Kish of Ashland, NC, and Robert Kish of South Bend, IN; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Ronald D. Rush, Sr., in 1993; an infant son, Ronald D. Rush, Jr., in 1967; her parents, Nelson Schaus in 1979, and Anna Rein in 1991; her mother-in-law, Lenore Rush whom she cared for until her death in 2000; and a special friend, Dan Hickmott in 2002. Linda will be dearly missed by all.
