Charlotte's Obituary

Charlotte Gatchell, 91, of Bridgman, formerly of Eau Claire, passed away Wednesday morning, November 29, 2006, at Jordan’s Nursing Home in Bridgman. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, December 2, 2006, at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Pastor Dr. John Hosler officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Visitation with the family will be Friday, December 1, from 4:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home. Charlotte was born December 2, 1914 in Bremerhaven, Germany to Edward and Mathilda Navrotzke. On August 28, 1938 she married George Warren Gatchell in St. Joseph. Together they managed their family farm in Eau Claire. She was a longtime member of Napier Parkview Baptist Church in Benton Harbor. Charlotte was known for her baking and particularly for her pies and cookies. In later years she would never miss an opportunity to play her favorite game – BINGO. Most of all she loved spending time with her family especially with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always enjoyed Saturday afternoon shopping trips with her daughter. Charlotte is survived by her husband George; her children, Warren D. (Margie) Gatchell of Eau Claire and Marge (Duane) Garland of Benton Harbor; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and by her sister, Florence Anglin of Rogers, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents.
