Myron's Obituary

Services for Myron “Hal” Adelberg, will be held at 1:30 P.M. Sunday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Rabbi Martyn Adelberg officiating. Burial will follow at B’nai Shalom Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Israel Bonds or the Benton Harbor Lions Club. Myron “Hal” Adelberg, a retired prominent businessman in Southwestern Michigan, operated and owned an independent clothing store for over five decades, retiring in 1996. Myron’s father started the business in 1936 as “Hal’s Clothier.” Mr. Adelberg was also a past president and member of the Benton Harbor Lions Club dedicated to helping out the blind or visually impaired. He was also secretary of Congregation B’nai Shalom, President of Israel Bond Drive of SW Michigan and Past President of B’nai Brith. Upon retirement Mr. Adelberg relocated the past ten years to Tamarac, Florida. Myron will be remembered by all his family and friends for his outgoing personality, zest for life, avid story telling, and his generosity to the community sending out donations on a monthly basis to charitable organizations. Myron continued playing bridge, and enjoying his life, traveling and visiting with his family and friends, and taking cruises around the world. Myron was very proud of all his children and grandchildren. Myron’s companion of the past five years is Evelyn Brazina of Tamarac, Florida. Our Dad and Grandfather passed away December 14, 2006 in Tamarac, Florida, after a very brief illness. Surviving family includes sister Essie Katz of Mishawaka, IN, son Rabbi Martyn Adelberg (Marcia) of Morton Grove, IL, daughter Jody Adelberg, Nurse Practitioner of Oakland California, and partner Luanne Jenkins, daughter Loree Brownsfield , musician (Roger) of Enterprise, Alalbama, and eight grandchildren-Becky, Robyn, Lara& Gregory Adelberg, Elaya Jenkins-Adelberg, Shannon Glass (Frank), Bethanie Lundgren (Nathan), Elaina Hegard (Ben) and great granddaughter Lily Glass. Myron was preceded in death by his wife and the beloved mother of his children Elaine Nudelman Adelberg in 1983, and his brothers Bill and Harold Adelberg. He will always be remembered in our hearts.
