Dan's Obituary

Dan Eppard, 67, of St. Joseph, died Monday, February 19, 2007, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday, February 23, 2007, at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with visitation from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Reverend Richard Hardy will be officiating services. Burial will follow at Ruggles Cemetery, Baroda. Dan was born April 22, 1939, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Meredith and Stella (Crago) Eppard. On March 31, 1973 he married Cathy Thorpe in Elkhart, Indiana. Dan worked as an Industrial Hygienist. He was Co-Owner of Microtech Laboratories, worked for 15 years at ICMS in Baroda, and more recently worked as a driver at LeValley’s auto dealership. He enjoyed playing poker, fishing, bowling, golfing, and hanging with the Baroda Gang. He loved sports. He played basketball on scholarship in college and enjoyed many years as a coach and a spectator of his daughter, Carrie’s sports teams. Dan was also an avid Bears and Cubs fan. He was an extremely dedicated father, husband and grandfather. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Dan is survived by his wife Cathy; daughters Christi (Patrick) Mangold, of St. Joseph, and Carrie (Alan) Hall, of Ann Arbor; son Stephen Eppard, of Mesa, Arizona; grandchildren Daniel and Christopher Mangold, and Jeremy and Amanda Eppard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Meredith and Stella Eppard. Memorials may be made to Hospice at Home or the Lung Cancer Alliance.
