Joyce M. Laukus

Joyce Laukus, 78, of St. Joseph, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2006 at Lakeland Hospital, St. Joseph. Friends may call from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., Sunday, December 3, 2006, at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Zion United Church of Christ, 3001 Veronica Court, St. Joseph. Officiating will be Rev. Terry Tessari. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens. Memorials may be made to the church. Friends wishing to send a condolence may do so at the guest book at www.starks-menchinger.com Joyce was born to Martin & Marie (Berndt) Surch on April 28, 1928 in St. Joseph. She graduated from St. Joseph High School. On March 20, 1948, she married her husband William A. Laukus in St. Joseph. She worked for 28 years at Blossomland Learning Center as a Teacher Aide. She also volunteered at Lakeland Hospital, Krasl Art Center, 4-H Handi-Cap Horse Riding and was a member of the Friendship Circle. Joyce enjoyed golfing, sports, being a Cubs fan and traveling with her husband. She is survived by her husband; two sons Kyle (Renee) Laukus of Benton Harbor, Mark (Jennifer) Laukus of St. Joseph; two grandchildren Kristopher and Emily; and one brother Eugene Surch of Portage, MI.
