William's Obituary
William Glenis Pounders, 83, of St. Joseph, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, September 21, 2006 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, September 25, 2006, at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI, with Pastors Windle Davis and Lynn Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Bluff Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held between 4:00 and 8:00 Sunday evening, September 24, at the funeral home. Memorials in William’s memory may be made to Living Word Church of God in Coloma. Those wishing to sign the family guestbook, or to leave a message of condolence, may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com William was born May 13, 1923 in Russellville, Alabama to Lonnie Glenis and Sarah Pounders. On July 2, 1966 he married Shirley Everett in St. Joseph. William was a dedicated Christian who “enjoyed telling people about Jesus.” He was always a friend to the less fortunate and humbly helped out those in need. He enjoyed watching baseball particularly the Chicago Cubs and Atlanta Braves. Most of all, William enjoyed his family and loved spending time with his grandchildren. William is survived by his wife, Shirley; his children, Glen (Dawn) Pounders of Sugar Land, TX, Gina (Ken) Maskal of Normal, IL, Rosemary (Riley) Raines of St. Joseph, Jim (Jenna) Everett of St. Joseph, Vivian (Dennis) Padgett of Siloam Springs, AR, and Frank (Janice) Haberele of California; grandchildren, Colton, Brendan, and Emma Pounders, Isaiah and Mekai Maskal, Rebecca Raines, Ryan, Austin, and Lane Everett, and Nick & Mitch Padgett; and by his sisters, Lorene Mc Clanahan of Watervliet, Maggie Williams of Benton Harbor, and Elizabeth Murphy of Muscle Shoals, AL. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Odell Mollett and Gussie Pounders.
