Janice I. Edelberg

Janice I. “Jan” Edelberg, 60, of Benton Harbor, passed away Monday, January 22, 2007 at her home. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 A.M. Thursday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Pastor Doug Cuthbert officiating. Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Jan was born April 22, 1946 in St. Joseph to Irving & Genevieve (Cuthbert) Ruff. She graduated from Eau Claire High School, Class of 1964. Jan was employed by the Michigan Department of Transportation, retiring in October of 2002 after 26 years of employment. On February 9, 1991, she married Bruce Edelberg in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together they enjoyed spending time together fishing in Northern Michigan, and spending time with other family and friends. She also loved to shop and go to garage sales. Jan was a friend to all who knew her. She would always take time to listen, and help anyone, anyway she could. Jan didn’t know a stranger. Her smiling face, caring ways, and love of life will be special memories that will never be forgotten. Jan is survived by her husband Bruce; four daughters-Tiffany Piner of St. Joseph, Cindy Kruger of Coloma, Nancee Piner of Benton Harbor & Jeri Sue Edelberg of Stevensville; three granddaughters-Hailey, Emily & Karlye; her sister Delores (Jim) Flippo of Stevensville; and her brother David (Cheryl) Ruff of Coloma. Jan was preceded in death by her parents Irving & Genevieve Ruff.
