Daniel Albert Poulson

Daniel “Dan” Albert Poulson, 73, of Stevensville, passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2006, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 P.M., on Friday, September 1, 2006, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church St., St. Joseph with Fr. Christian Johnston officiating. Burial will follow in Hickory Bluff Cemetery with a military service. Friends may visit with the family from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., with a prayer service at 7:30 P.M., on Thursday, August 31, 2006, at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Dan was born to William and Elizabeth (Romes) Poulson on November 19, 1932, in Holgate, OH. After graduating from Holgate High School in 1950, Dan attended DeVry University and graduated with a Bachelors Degree majoring in electrical engineering in 1952. In 1953 he joined the U.S. Army until he was discharged in 1955. Dan married the love of his life Phyllis Fortman on August 29, 1959 in Ottawa, OH and together they had five children. Dan worked as an electrical engineer for 45 years for Heath Company in St. Joseph and Bendix Corp. in South Bend, IN. He held several patents with his work. Dan could fix anything. Dan liked to fish, hunt, invent things and collect antiques, especially clocks. Dan is survived by his wife, Phyllis; children, Michael Poulson of Farmington, MI, Gregory (Kimberly) Poulson of Dearborn, MI, Christopher Poulson of Stevensville, Stephen Poulson of South Bend, IN, and Vicki (Mike) Heck of Grand Haven, MI; grandson, Ryan Heck of Grand Haven, MI; brother, Francis (Joyce) Poulson of Somerville, NJ; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dan was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Joe and Tommy Poulson.
