Herbert O. Kasischke, 70, of St. Joseph, passed away on Friday, December 8, 2006, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph.A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, December 12, 2006, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 613 Court St., St. Joseph with Rev. Thomas Batsky officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, December 11, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorial donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church. Friends may send the family a condolence message or sign the guest book on-line at www.starks-menchinger.com. Herb was born to William and Helen (Natzke) Kasischke on February 23, 1936, in St. Joseph. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he also attended elementary and middle school. A member of the St. Joseph High School Class of 1954, Herb married his classmate and the love of his life, Marcia Jeanne Rill, and together they raised three children. Herb worked for Hughes Plastics, George Miller & Sons, and Leaseway Corp. in St. Joseph. Herb loved traveling in his RV, camping, square dancing, attending summer band concerts and socializing with his family and many friends. Herb had an adventurous spirit and a generous heart. Herb was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be sadly missed.Herb is survived by his wife, Marcia; children, Kevin Kasischke of St. Joseph, Kim Halverson of Okemos, MI and Karrin Kasischke of Portage, MI; grandchildren, Emily and Kyle Halverson of Okemos, MI; brothers Martin (Mildred) Kasischke of Sun City, AZ and Ludwig (Tove) Kasischke of Locust Grove, VA; and sister, Helen (Thomas) Craig of Bangor, MI. Herb was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Kasischke; and a sister, Anna Radtke.
