He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1999, where he received his varsity letter in wrestling. Lucas had been employed by Paramount Dry Wall of Coloma. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and especially fishing. Lucas was loved and will be missed by his parents, friends, and relatives. He made friends wherever he went. Lucas realized early in life what we all eventually discover: that family and friends are much more important than possessions and material goods. People were drawn to him; we all wanted to be counted among his friends. He was the light in every room, and after spending any time with him, we walked away feeling better because he had made us laugh. While we are sad that we can no longer spend time with him, we know he is with the Lord, waiting to embrace us all and make us laugh once more. Lucas is survived by his daughter Lyra Marie Potter of Homosassa Springs, FL; his mother and step-father-Elaine & James Schueneman of Benton Harbor, his father and step-mother-Randy & Patty Potter of Homosassa Springs, three brothers-Dustin Schueneman of San Diego, CA, Brian Schueneman of Breckenridge, CO and Mitch Potter of Kalamazoo; his sister Emily (Aaron) Nannfeldt of Berrien Springs, MI; his grandparents-Lyra Krall of St. Joseph, Russell & Bernice Potter of Morrice, MI, Harry Schueneman of St. Joseph; and numerous aunts, uncles & cousins. Lucas was preceded in death by his brother Jake Potter on September 2, 1998, and two grandfathers-Ernst Knauf & Howard Krall.
