Lillian's Obituary

Lillian Jespersen, 92, of St. Joseph, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2006 at Caretel Inns of Royalton. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 A.M., on Monday, October 2, 2006, with Pastor Thomas Batsky officiating, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 613 Court Street, St. Joseph. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. Memorials in Lillian’s name may be made to Lutheran Missionary League. Those wishing to send a condolence message online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Lillian was born June 5, 1914 in St. Joseph, to Gustav and Emma (Tilly) Radde. She attended St. Joseph High School and graduated from Secretarial School. Lillian worked for Cooper Wells, the Gas Company, and local St. Joseph Attorneys. In 1944 she married Herman P. Jespersen and became a home-maker. Lillian was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was active in Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, a member of the Ladies Aid before her wedding, acting as President from 1970 thru 1973, and as Treasurer from 1983 thru 1996, the Vineyard Club, which was started by Mr. Nehrig at Trinity, in order to encourage Trinity children to go to Ann Arbor College to become Teachers and Ministers; PTL (Parent Teacher League) at Trinity Lutheran School, as well as Room Mother at Trinity Lutheran School.
