Esther M. Piehl

Esther M. Piehl, 82, of Holland, formerly of St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2005 at Holland Community Hospital. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Rev. James Boer officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Friends may call from 12:00 ? 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer?s Association. On December 24, 1942, she married Harry T. Piehl in St. Joseph. Esther was employed by Whirlpool for 23 years. Before moving to Holland, Esther was a member of the First Church of God, St. Joseph and was active in Bible Study Fellowship. Mrs. Piehl is survived by her husband of 62 years, Harry Piehl; her son Robert Piehl of Baroda; daughter Betty (Martin) Ulrich of Holland; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her brother Alvin (Irene) Kelm of St. Joseph; sister-in-law-Lucille Piehl of St. Joseph; and several nephews, nieces and cousins. Esther was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son David in 1948; two brothers Elmer & Donald Kelm; and a brother-in-law-Emil Piehl.
