Irene A. Pallas

Irene A. Pallas, 77, of St. Joseph, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, January 18, 2005, at her home with her loving family at her side. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church, 404 E. Glenlord Rd., St. Joseph with Rev. Glenn Rosenbaum officiating. Private family committal services will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. Friday at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Mrs. Pallas was born April 9, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois to Joseph & Sofia (Turczyn) Handzel. Irene was employed by Whirlpool Corp. in St. Joseph, and retired from Wollin Products. Following her retirement, she was employed part-time by Clean America. Irene was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in St. Joseph. She loved traveling and reading mystery novels. Most of all, Irene enjoyed spending time with her family, and them with her. Irene is survived by four sons-Donald (Donna) Pallas of Wedowee, Alabama; Lawrence (Dawn) Pallas of Portage, MI; David (Kathy) Pallas of Stevensville; Steven (Mary) Pallas of Benton Harbor; two daughters-Renee? (Lonnie) Scheetz of Jacksonville, FL; Dawn April of Cleveland, TN; eight grandchildren-Timothy, Shawna, Justin, Mindy, Holly, Melissa, Robert, Farrah; five great-grandchildren-Kayla Renee, Ashley, Autumn, Hunter, Hannah; a sister-Annie (Edward) Kafka of Coloma; and a long-time dear friend-Bob Mix of St. Joseph. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter Angel Dawn, a brother Rudolph Handzel, and two sisters-Helen Handzel & Wanda Cygan.
