Carrie's Obituary
Carrie M. Emhoff, 93, of St. Joseph, passed away Thursday, November 25, 2004, at Lakeland Continuing Care Center in St. Joseph. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 A.M. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church St., St. Joseph with Msgr. Eugene Sears officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Friends may call from 2-4 P.M. Sunday, with Liturgical Prayers recited at 4:00 P.M. at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guestbook online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Carrie was born June 7, 1911 in Bainbridge Township to Jacob & Margaret (Hirsch) Emhoff. She graduated from 10th grade at Millburg School. Carrie worked at Mercy Hospital in Benton Harbor in the food service department under the direction of Miss Sue Borden. She also worked for the National Tea Company. In 1961, Carrie received her real estate license and worked for Jack O?Brien Real Estate. She also worked at Brown?s Locksmiths and Brown?s Luggage in St. Joseph. Carrie will always be remembered for her caring for others and kindness shown to everyone in need; and for all the delicious baking she did. Carrie was preceded in death by her father Jacob in 1939 and her mother Margaret in 1965. She was preceded in death by her brothers-Herman, John, Orville, Kenneth and Jake Emhoff; by her sisters-Lucille Brown, Loueda Andrews and Lydia Burke; and by her good friend James Locke in 1985. Carrie is survived by her nieces and nephews-Edna Sernau, Robert Brown, Ann Wilkenson, Eunice Ott, Bonnie McGraw, Margaret Larsen, Jean Reed, Warren Andrews, Margaret Carter, Robert Emhoff, Betty Faultersack, Leionard Burke, Margie Scrowcroft, Reba Harris, Tom Emhoff and Wanda Patton; and by many more great nieces and nephews.
