Rex's Obituary

Rex D. Closson, Sr., 61, of Benton Harbor, loving husband, father and grandfather, left this life on his final journey, Friday, October 15, 2004. Visitation will be on Monday, Oct. 18, from 6:00-8:00 P.M., at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. There will be a Committal Service on Tuesday, at 2:00 P.M., at Crystal Springs Cemetery, Benton Harbor, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to Animal Aid, or Southwest Humane Society, or American Cancer Foundation, or the American Heart Association. Rex was born the youngest of seven children, on January 17, 1943, in Benton Harbor, MI, to Donald and Maree (Brenkert) Closson. He was part owner and master diesel mechanic in the family business, Don Closson & Sons of Benton Harbor. Rex enjoyed spending time with his family and his dogs. He also enjoyed the challenge of rebuilding engines. Rex had a green thumb that was evident to anyone who saw his yard covered in roses. He is survived by his wife of 44 years Delores Jean; a son, Rex Closson, Jr. of Muskegon, MI; two daughters, Pat Pullins and Jennie (Jeff) Bird, both of Benton Harbor; three granddaughters, Heather Closson, Amber Falcone? and Carrie Falcone? all of Benton Harbor; six grandsons, Adam, Daniel, and Ryan Closson of Stevensville, Krystopher Falcone?, Thomas and Nicholas Bird of Benton Harbor; two brothers, Gordon (Lois) Closson and Dale (Pat) Closson both of Benton Harbor; one sister, Virginia Closson of Benton Harbor; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends ? including Chu Chu his faithful friend. Rex was preceded in death by his father and mother, Don and Maree; and three brothers, Bruce, Donald, Jr. and Douglas Closson.
