Ada's Obituary

Ada Stoes, 99, of Stevensville, MI, died on Saturday, April 19, 2008, at Lakeland Continuing Care Center. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, April 21, 12 noon, at Starks & Menchinger Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. Rev. Fr. Vasily Melnyk will be the celebrant. Burial will follow at Lincoln Township Cemetery. Visitation will precede the service from 10:00-12 noon on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Lincoln Senior Center. Friends wishing to sign the guestbook, or to leave a message of condolence, may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Ada was born July 8, 1908, in Zavattarello, Italy, to Pasquale and Berenice (Dapero) Pantaleone. She came to the U.S. in 1916, settling in Norfolk, Va. Ada moved to Chicago, IL in 1921. She married George Stoes on April 17, 1929. They owned and operated George’s restaurant at Archer and Western in Chicago, until they retired in 1960, and then they moved to Michigan. Ada was a member of the Daughters of Panelope, Chicago. She is survived by a son, Emmanuel ‘Manny’ (Susan) Stoes of Stevensville; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ada is preceded in death by her husband George.
