John Edward Collier, 87, of Stevensville, passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2007, at his home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Wednesday, August 29, 2007, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 619 Market, St. Joseph with Rev. Michael Roth officiating. Burial will take place in Spring Run Cemetery in Scottdale. Memorial donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church. John was born to Judge Joseph and Enova (Anspaugh) Collier on December 22, 1919 in St. Joseph. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1937. He married the former Joyce Smith on October 18, 1942. John served as a Staff Sergeant in the Army from 1942 to 1945 with 1007th Engineers Headquarters Section. He served in the Philippines, New Guinea, and Australia. He was employed at Industrial Rubber Goods Co. for 47 year as a utility man. He operated his family farm in Stevensville until 1990. John was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Joseph. He enjoyed fishing in Singer Lake and was an avid gardener.
John is survived by his wife, Joyce; son, John M. (Sandy) Collier of Los Angeles, CA; daughter, Celeste (Dwight) Love of Herndon, VA; grandson, Kevin (Jessikah) Love of Alexandria, VA; granddaughter, Kimberly Love and her fiance Jon Myers of Athens, GA; step-granddaughter, Tina Collier of Los Angeles, CA; brothers-in-law, Grant Smith of Benton Harbor and Vernon (Beverly) Smith of San Diego, CA; nephews, Lee Smith of Coloma and Michael (Linda) Smith of San Diego, CA; and nieces, Pamela (David) Denbow of Coloma and Sandra Webb of San Diego, CA.
