Elzora Hanson

Elzora Nina Hanson, 90, of St. Joseph, MI, died Sunday, October 1, 2006, at The Willows in St. Joseph, MI. Arrangements have been entrusted with Kerley-Satrks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, St. Joseph, MI. Elzora was born November 3, 1915, in Brampton, North Dakota, to Arno and Coral (Barnum) Maxam. On August 7, 1940, in Benton Harbor, MI, she married Verner Hanson. She was a Registered Nurse, and retired from Mercy Hospital, in Benton Harbor, after 43 years of service. Elzora was also a member of the United Methodist Peace Temple in Benton Harbor. Elzora is survived by her children, Margaret Hoover of Portage, MI, Coral (Gregory) Jackson of Chase, MI, and Dean Hanson of Baldwin, MI; two grandchildren, Eric (Melissa) Jackson of Ft. Myers, FL, and Erin Jackson of Mt. Pleasant, MI; a sister, Nora Torngren of Waterford, WI; and very special friends Rolande and Gaston Lemieux. She is preceded in death by her parents-Arno and Coral Maxam, her husband-Verner Hanson, and three brothers-Arno, Gerald and Earl. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 11:30 a.m., at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens, Coloma, MI. Visitation will also be on Tuesday, one hour prior to the service, from 10:30-11:30 a.m., at the Funeral Home.
